Frequently Asked Questions
Once I have signed up, what's the process?
Once you have decided on the system you would like to install we will contact your power distributer and take the solar pre approvals to have the system installed. Once the pre approval is granted, we will arrange an installation date usually within 2-4 weeks. Post installation you will receive an invoice and subsequently all the paperwork to sign up for the feed in tariff.
What types of rebates are available?
Both the State and Federal Government provide 2 forms of assistance when installing a solar system.
Do my solar panels produce power when the sun isn't shining?
The amount of power your solar energy system can generate is dependent on sunlight. As a result the panels will produce slightly less energy when the weather is cloudy, and no energy at night. However because of high electricity cost and financial incentives, solar is a smart decision even in a cloudy city.
Will I still receive electricity bills with solar panels installed?
Unless your solar system includes battery storage and you are fully off the grid, you will receive an electricity bill. However you can largely reduce your bill to even $0 with a system that matches your energy use.
What system size should I install?
The size of the system depends on several factors:
a. How many panels will fit on your roof.
b. Your budget
c. Your needs, a smaller system may be enough to offset your entire bill.
d. Your future plans, if you intend on starting a family and staying in a house long term, go bigger if you can.
Can I upgrade the system?
Yes, additional panels may be added to existing systems where a large inverter has been installed. Where a large inverter is required that is not supported by the existing inverter, an additional inverter can be installed next to the existing one.
How much will solar panel maintenance cost?
Solar panel systems are made of durable tempered glass and require little to no maintenance for the 25 to 35 years that they will generate power. In most cases, you don’t even need to clean your solar panels regularly. If something does happen, most equipment manufacturers include warranties, although warranty terms depend on the company.
